Seeking Amusement in Mundanity

I took great delight
in sharpening 13 pencils-
1 white pencil,
1 green O'Bon 2B pencil,
1 blue Staedtler 2B pencil,
1 black JW Marriott pencil,
6 yellow Staedtler HB pencils,
1 maroon-and-gold Popular 2B pencil,
1 red-and black Chung Hwa 2B pencil,
and 1 blue-and-black Chung Hwa 2B pencil.

I felt tranquility
revelling in the low crisp moan
of the wood being shaved,
and found solace
watching the effortless transformation
for the better.

Maybe I am near the end of the tunnel.
