Dissipation

One day,
she woke up with some itchy bumps
on her arms, legs and body.
She thought nothing much of them.

Then,
on the second day,
she woke up with more itchy bumps.
This time,
they were bigger.
She got worried but
expected them to clear in a few days time.

She was disturbed
when the swellings threatened to smother her
on the third day.
Even the doctor could not help her.

On the fourth night,
she jerked out of sleep
when she felt a horde of hairy crawlies
worming all over her.

She gave a long, loud, piercing cry of help.
The horrifying scene was beyond her wildest imagination.

No one knew what happened that night.
They only found a spotless skeleton laid neatly on her bed.
